Auf engstem Raum (trailer)
2025, two-channel installation, 12:56 min
Werksviertel Mitte, Munich, September 24, 2025 – October 30, 2025
The film installation deals with the forced coexistence of two war widows in bombed-out Munich. Marya fled to Munich with her two children in 1947 and hopes for a new beginning. Cecilia has a child from a relationship with a black soldier. She hides it so that the authorities won’t take it away from her. Looking at the setting, family history is linked to contemporary history. Ghosts inhabit both of them, but these are neither conjured up nor exorcised; instead, they are simply described. One side realizes that she has believed a lie, while the other feels contempt and humiliation. The art film searches for images of connection and reconciliation that are still socially relevant today.
